Doug M.

The Starting Point

Doug is a full-time physical therapist and Pro Hyrox athlete who had his training completely dialed in — but nutrition was an afterthought. He had no system for fueling his body to support his intense training load while balancing a demanding career. His goal was simple: improve his finish times, specifically his run splits, heading into the 2025 season.

What We Did

We started at maintenance calories with a focus on carbohydrate volume and timing to support his training. After a few months we moved into a small cut to shed a few pounds before the season, keeping protein high and carbs moderate to protect his performance. About a month out from his first race we brought calories back up to maintenance to make sure he was fully fueled and ready to go.

The Outcome

Doug dropped 7 pounds while maintaining his strength heading into race season. He improved his finish time by 2 minutes at his first race and matched that time at his second. We continue to monitor and adjust his nutrition throughout the season to keep him primed for every race ahead.

McKay M.

The Starting Point

McKay came to IronWolf with a clear goal — to grow in the CrossFit space by getting stronger and improving her gymnastics skills. She was attending affiliate classes and adding some accessories after, but nothing was specifically targeting her weaknesses or built around where she wanted to go.

What We Did

We started with a full baseline assessment of her current lifts and skills, then got to work. Multiple strength cycles drove her numbers up significantly, paired with a nutrition plan built to support her training load. Once her strength foundation was solid, we layered in gymnastics progressions, building capacity in pull-ups, toes to bar, bar muscle-ups, handstand push-ups, handstand walks, and more. Throughout every phase we monitored her nutrition and made adjustments based on her feedback.

The Outcome

McKay hit multiple PRs across every major lift:

  • Front Squat: 175 → 205
  • Back Squat: 215 → 235
  • Split Jerk: 135 → 185
  • Clean: 145 → 175
  • Snatch: 105 → 125

She can now string sets of bar muscle-ups and handstand skills in workouts—movements that weren't in her toolkit when we started.
